Tarmina Stonebluff

Dwarf Monk

“Fighting slavers is like fighting a troll. You can’t just wound it. You kill it, then you burn it with fire.”

Appearance: A short figure pokes her head out of a tunnel entrance, peering into the night. Her charcoal hair is cut close to her head, the remnants of an old would visible below her scalp. Her face shows the signs of a hard life. She steps out into the moonlight, turning to grip a large stone with powerful arms and move it easily into place, disguising it with some brush. Then she slips quietly into the hills.

Personality: It’s easy to underestimate Tarmina Stonebluff and she is a cunning foe. Few realize the overwhelming determination and grit present in the small dwarven woman. She cares little for comforts or common pleasures, her focus completely centered on her mission and the search for her missing son.

Motivation: My son is alive, I can feel it. I’ll find him as long as I don’t stop. I just need the strength and patience. I’ll free as many as I can and be a thorn in their side. Always a thorn in their side.

Roleplaying Tips: As a younger woman, Tarmina was struck with a heavy stone that left a gash in her skull. Though it has healed, she still has occasional seizures and experiences intense visions and dreams.

Background: Like many dwarves, Tarmina was born into the northern slave mines. She married and had a son that was soon traded to another mining guild. Hungry for freedom, Tarmina and her husband joined Balthus Stormslaugh’s revolt, though the conflict cost her husband his life. Tarmina disagreed with the criminal direction Balthus took The Union and left it to fight alongside The Mirandae.

Traits: Agile, Chaotic, Cunning, Good, Intimidating, Resilient, and Strong

Dark Secret: Tarmina’s father is still a prominent member of The Union. Though Tarmina disagrees with the criminal activities of the group, she aids them in their anti-slavery efforts throughout the north.

Plot Hooks
  • One of Tarmina’s favorite tactics is to smuggle those escaping slavery through underground tunnels. One of those tunnels has opened up into something sinister, and Tarmina needs help clearing it out. She’ll let you keep a share of whatever is found but won’t reveal her purposes unless you are trusted.

  • After Tarmina Stonebluff gained her freedom she sought to strengthen herself, becoming the pupil of a respected monk. It was this monk that introduced her to The Mirandae and Tarmina has never forgotten her discipline. She is waiting for her own opportunity to take on a worthy pupil, should it present itself.

  • Whether you are working for The Mirandae, The Union, or some other organization that opposes slavery, there is a good chance that Tarmina Stonebluff is already involved. If your party aids her cause it would be wise of you to seek her help and tactical advice. If you work for the slavers, just wait, Tarmina will be seeking you out and there is a large reward offered for anyone able to eliminate her for good.
