Vesper Irastava

Fiendling Rogue

“An assassin should always prepare for death, especially her own. We live as ghosts in this world.””

Appearance: A tall figure stops at the corner. You catch a glimpse of this female fiendling as she adjusts the hood of her cloak. Her skin and hair are the color of ivory and her eyes flash silver as she watches the street. Curving horns gracefully arch above her pointed ears. Her body relaxes as she checks something in her hand and before you can blink, she’s disappeared in the shadows of the building.

Personality: Through extensive training, Vesper Irastava has honed her mind and body into deadly weapons, relying on her intuition and attention to detail to achieve her goals and escape difficult situations. She keeps her true feelings hidden, and it takes a great deal of time to earn her trust.

Motivation: My only purpose was to serve my family. Now I have to find my own way and decide for myself what is important. I’ll do what I think is best and have my revenge against the other clans.

Roleplaying Tips: Vesper is soft-spoken and rarely raises her voice. She is used to being alone and usually avoids large groups. Anxious without a weapon, she carries several hidden blades at all times.

Background: An assassin of the Irastava clan, Vesper Irastava rose to become the clan’s most feared killer and helped her husband become the clan’s head. When the other assassin clans decided to merge, Vesper and her husband refused and were the target of a deadly reprisal. Vesper survived and stalks the assassins that killed her family with the help of the secretive Mirandae, who also employ her talents.

Traits: Adventurer, Agile, Assassin, Attractive, Chaotic, Criminal, Cunning, Divine,  Intimidating, and Mercenary

Dark Secret: Vesper is unaware that her mother had been seduced by the head of the now consolidated assassin clans and fatally betrayed her family at his instigation. Her mother is alive and living as his wife.

Plot Hooks
  • Vesper has discovered that assassins have been hired to murder a rising political reformer who is gaining influence in the nation. The Mirandae have dispatched Vesper to protect her and she needs a distraction for the target’s security the night the assassins strike. Help her get inside to save the chancellor’s life.

  • Since consolidating power, the majority of assassination contracts are being given to Vesper Irastava’s enemies, either directly or through intermediaries they control. If your party has ever been hired to kill a specific person, it can probably be traced back to them. Vesper may consider you part of their network.

  • While Vesper Irastava is hunting her enemies, her enemies are also hunting her and it’s not unusual for her to adopt a false identity as an adventurer for a time to stay one step ahead of them. The next time your party is hired to explore a ruin or a remote location away from any of the larger cities, it may be that Vesper has been hired under an assumed name, either to help you or beat you to the punch.

Connections

Vesper Irastava is a member of the secret organization known as The Mirandae, sending regular reports to the organization’s head, Silmarea Tillari.

Vesper Irastava is regularly recruited for Thacklen Fellcross III's expeditions, though she adventures under an assumed name.
