Caston Agosta

Human City Guard

“There’s no need to thank us. Our duty is to protect you, not control your lives.”

Appearance: Standing stiffly, this young man wears the lightly armored uniform of a city guard. His dark features are passive except for quick almond eyes as they scan the across crowd. His black hair is long, worn in an intricate braid that reaches halfway down his back. As a woman stumbles near him, he tenses for a second, then leans down to kindly help her to her feet.

Personality: Ambitious and hardworking, Caston Agosta sincerely believes in the benefits of law and order. He performs his duties with a focused detachment and is not easily taken in by emotional pleas. Though he isn’t vain, Caston is meticulous about his personal appearance, especially when in uniform.

Motivation: Not everyone is called to serve and protect the people, but it is a duty that must be taken soberly and in earnest. Order is the first defense against evil, but I must also temper the law with mercy.

Roleplaying Tips: When serving as a guard, Caston Agosta is all business, and will pursue his duty long after others might give up. In his off-hours, he often whistles to himself, not realizing he is doing it.

Background: Though he was born in the city, Caston’s parents were foreigners from across the sea, and Caston does his best to care for his widowed mother, who still doesn’t know the common tongue. He hopes that his efforts in the city guard will be recognized, and intends to work his way to become Commander of the Guard and the opportunity to do more good for the only home he has ever known.

Traits: Agile, Good, Guard, Intelligent, Lawful, and Strong

Dark Secret: When Caston was a boy, his father was arrested for thievery and eventually died in prison. Shamed by this legacy, Caston is doing his best to restore his family’s reputation.

Plot Hooks
  • Though it happened a decade ago, the relics that Caston’s father stole from the archives of the deity of knowledge have never been recovered. Caston believes that his father’s partner knows what happened to the valuables, though he has not been seen since. Caston needs help in finding the man and returning what was taken, as a matter of justice and family pride.

  • Not every guard in the city is honest, and Caston fears that corruption has grown since the arrival of the new Commander, Osmand Pratch. He has also noticed some disturbing things about Watch Sergeant Davon Bosh and would be eager to know where he’s been going in the darkest hours of the night.

  • Caston tries to do good wherever there is need and is currently helping Clover Brightfoot, a prostitute desperate to leave her brothel. Unfortunately, her procurer has threatened to kill her if she does. Caston is trying to arrange for someone to smuggle the girl out of the city and protect her on the road.
