“Human cities are strange places. If I kill the wrong human, they want to kill me. If I kill the right one, they smile and give me gold.”

Appearance: A pale hobgoblin pauses to wipe his nose and watch the city gate. Glaring pink eyes scan the darkness as he checks his blades, pulling a thick cloak around his shoulders when he’s finished. His sharp grin splits his lips as he sees the guard. He whistles, and after the guard whistles back, he raises a mask to hide his leathery face and walks forward, the guard’s bribe already clinking in his hand.

Personality: As vicious as any other hobgoblin, Silverback’s brutality is no longer checked by any sense of honor. He lives for the hunt and uses the offered bounties as a way to keep score against the other hunters in his profession. He will usually pursue marks he is allowed to kill and hurt the ones he is not.

Motivation: The strong prey on the weak. It’s always been this way and always will be. I get paid to hunt and kill. I find my mark, I do the job, I get the spoils. I’m still a soldier, just in a different kind of war.

Roleplaying Tips: Silverback is a foul creature, enjoying the fear he puts in others. He will break his word as long as he’s sure he can handle the consequences but won’t jeopardize his ability to hunt bounties.

Background: Silverback’s albinism marked him as odd among hobgoblins and forced him to work twice as hard to rise through the ranks. He earned a place of distinction as the warlord’s personal attendant but soon became disgusted at the corrupt commander’s lack of honor. Disillusioned and angry, he abandoned his post, eventually joining a gang of bandits. He now hunts bounties for the highest bidder.

Dark Secret: Silverback is biding his time until he can return to challenge his former warlord for supremacy of the tribe. He spends the bounties he earns on enchanted items to enhance his strength.
